V1 Hard wire

I just got my V1 and want to hard wire it. I would like to run the power cord from the fuse box to a spot close to the rear view mirror. Any suggestions? :help:

Following a tip I found somewhere hidden in the depths of this forum, I found it very easy to run my V-1 power wire across the top edge of the windshield (behind the trim), down the A-pillar, under the dash, and connect to the readily available switched power that is in the cell phone plug (unused in my car). No tools for the job other than a credit card to ease the wire out of sight behind the trim. Then, simply pop off the trim panel by the pax left knee to access the power.

It is very easy to wire it directly into the overhead light module. Besides the very short wire run, it has the very nice characteristic of automatically shutting off after the car is shut off.

I have a DIY in my sig below, but I just ran it down the side, it's so easy to do.

Kirby. I have the full leather interior and the tolerance between the dash and A-pillar is VERY tight. Did you have any problems pushing the wire between the two?

Plima. When you wired to the overhead light did you still use the plug-in adapter and fuse the came with the V1? Will in fit?

I did not use the plug in adaptor; I cut the cord to the appropriate length and soldered to the back of the printed circuit board that holds the lights and switches (it comes out of the car very easily). That circuit is fused already; the only loss is of the passenger side light, as it is now the detector circuit.

It was Kirby's example that inspired my similar installation. I have the full leather dash, etc in my Cab, and had no difficulty with the use of the credit card to achieve the wire run.

Give me a PM if you wish to drive out to Marietta to see for yourself.

I don't have full leather dash, but I have installed the V1 in many cars that have and so far no issues with running the wires.
