Question 1. To bypass my brake pad sensors, do I need just a jumper wire or is there a specific resistance that the system needs to sense?

Question 2. 2006 V6 with 65k miles, when getting on it in just about any gear, I can hear what sounds like belt squeal starting at around 4,500 and up. However, the dealer replaced the alternator because they thought that was the issue. That ended up being a waste of time because it still does it. All I can think of now is power steering pump, tensioner or water pump. Are any of these more likely to go out? Happens with A/C on or off. Now, can it be ANYTHING else not belt driven, such as transmission related? Maybe something else from another part of the motor? I will have to try and get a video of it, but might not happen. I just need ideas for the dealer since they apparently can't locate it.

1. Yes, you would need to jumper the sensors.

Most often this is done by people that track their cars and they inspect the brake pads more often than normal. So this is not recommended for street cars.

2. Find another dealer or shop that can properly diagnose the noise.

Remove the belt and inspect the tensioner that it moves freely without binding and has correct spring tension throughout it's range. I assume all the components/idlers have been inspected.

Will try that WVicary.

One more thing. Are there any good ceramic pads for us? I am tired of cleaning up brake dust off the wheels. :) But I would rather have stopping power over clean wheels any day. Right now they have great cold bite and hardly any fade. I think they are the factory ones since they only have 65k on them.

I stick with factory pads and have never had an issue with brake dust but it might have something to do with driving style. I want a pad that bites in straight away for stopping power as opposed a dead brake pedal unit the pads heat that is often found with aftermarket and ceramic pads.
