I was going to perform the TSB concerning Insufficient Remote Range. I also reviewed the DIY on fixing this problem too. My remote usually only works when I was next to the car (very short distances).

So, I took the A-Pillar panel off to find a slightly different setup than I was expecting.

My car is a '02 C4 Cabrio.

First of all I was expecting a white wire, but the wire was clear. Also, it wasn't a continuous wire, the clear section was attached to a black wire. It was situated within the bundle as described and when I removed it from the bundle the distance increased as expected. I didn't cut it, just moved it outside the bundle.

Just letting others know not all cars are configured the same.

See the pictures below.

Did the range improve?

Absolutely, I can go all the way down my driveway now. About 50 or so feet, I don't have the final range at the moment, but I'm completely happy since the remote only worked when I was next to the car.

Awesome! I am going to mod mine tomorrow. My range now is to stand at the windshield. Maddening. Thanks for he post and pics.

Also, see the TSB and DIY articles on this site, they are informative.
