Electrics fried ? Wet behind right seat ? Battery flat ? Wet electrica

Well after weeks of relentless rain , my cab has spat the dummy electricals went one by one, battery generator, PCM, airbag, brake distribution, abs, roof rear spoiler.. You name it... Ding ding ding it was like playing a slot machine and. Getting the feature !! Every time I clicked ok I'd get a new error.. Sheesh..

Eventually after market gps radio started fading in and out.. Then lights died and car died.. Doh..

Parked the car went back to. It the next day and it started .. Drove it a km and it all repeated dying in my driveway..

Battery then went dead.. Recharged over night and plugged it back in but she is kaput..

Stupidly I didn't leave the bonet unlocked so I not can't get under the bonet to start again. I have plugged into the fuse panel and the alarm goes off.. But guess what my remote does nt turn the alarm off, and the red key is broken.. Yellow key has been my savior till now.. Without getting past this I can't pop the hood.. Bummer...

Water behind right drivers seat, and condensation under the bucket seat in the right rear..

So I at best waterlogged and will come good but here are my questions following reading a few great articles here...

1) how do I kill the alarm ?

2) once I do this do I take battery out and recharge and then hairdry the car under the seat ? How do I get the electronics under my seat functioning again ?

3) is it possible I have fried my computer ?

4) is this a job for Porsche service center or will I be robbed blind ?

5) which of the drainage points are likely to be my problem

Sorry to hear this... I just had the same water issue in my cab but fixed the drainage issue BEFORE the electrical damage set in. See the thread for clearing the drains:

It's an easy DIY (and that's saying something coming from me! :-))

The computer for the alarm system is under the seat and often goes nuts when a car floods. You can take the unit out and dry it and all will be well, and then reinstall it inside a plastic bag to protect it in the future. But still be sure to clean out the drains.

finally got into the bonnet after finding that even though I could put a charge on the fuse panel.. The imoliser would not de activate..As a result no electrics work.. Including boot and bonet openers. Finally gave up and jacked the car up .. Would have used my jack except oh that's right it's under a bonnet I could nt open.. Found a friends one popped the front right wheel up, popped the panel and found the wire to pop the hood ... Hooooray.. Progress at last..

Plugged charger into the battery directly..

After frustration running around the car trying to 'beep' it I finally put a key in the ignition and turned it seemed to put it into happy mode. Tried this earlier with my other key which doesn't reset the alarm (changed battery so assume its dead).. With no joy..

My car was waterlogged with water behind both seats and I assume underwater electricals.. Could not open passenger door, open the roof or do anything that may dry the car out.. I'm still baffled how to clear the drain points even after reading some reviews and looking at descriptive diagrams..

Had a jump still couldn't start and got battery/generator error and all the other warnings that follow..

Long story but finally grabbed a new battery and it started.. Yay.. Battery generator error remains.. Guess like you, I now have an alternator problem and my water issue will only surface and flat my battery and put me though the above again when it rains again..

Well dry car and a new battery and booya.. She is alive again !!!

Yesterday the battery generator error popped up but none of the other errors. Reading another thread it seems that you start losing voltage all your electricals start spitting the dummy which makes sense. I left the car out in the sun to dry out further today and seems the battery generator error is gone too..

Porky is back on the road doing what she should do ... Dropped it upto mechanic for a service and potential alternator replacement if need be...

Now I'm in love with my car again... Short memory ;)

Still praying it never ever rains again..

I cleaned my drains as stated above and I am still getting water into my rear carpet area! I have a cabriolet. I even tried putting water into the drainage holes above the wheels and the water came right out the drain. Are there any other places to look for improper drainage?

Do you use something like a freezer bag & tyrap the end closed?
