I am having these codes recently. I wonder anyone can help me out

P0159 O2 sensor circuit slow response bank 2 sensor 2 - upper limit value sxceeded, test conditions are not completed, fault is not currently active and is not causing a DTC light

P0160 O2 sensor circuit bank 2 sensor 2 - no signal/communication, test conditions are not completed, fault is currently active and causing a DTC light

it seems that I have this problem only when the humidity is high, either rainy or hot and humid. and it will be gone on sunny days.

the car drives normal. I could not feel any difference.but the CEL is annoying. I checked with duramrtric and the sensors have readings.

Should I change the sensor? is it hard to do? or is there any other way to fix it?

thanks guys!

P0159 Oxygen Sensor Aging After TWC, Bank 2 - Above Limit

Possible fault cause:

- Oxygen sensor faulty

- DME control module faulty

P0160 Oxygen Sensor After TWC, Bank 2 – Open Circuit

Possible fault cause

- Open circuit in the signal wire and/or ground wire of oxygen sensor

- Loose contact in connector

- Open circuit in B+ and/or negative line of the oxygen sensor heating

- Oxygen sensor faulty (heating resistance too high)

- DME control module faulty

I suggest you inspect the wiring to that sensor and the electrical connector - making sure everything is clean and dry.

Then clear the codes and see if they come back.

Do as Loren stated and be sure no one has applied dielectric grease to the connectors. After clearing the codes drive the vehicle at highway speeds in a lower gear to maintain approx 4,000 RPM for 20 km's. This will get the sensors and catalytic convertors up to temp and burn themselves clean. Try and complete the road test without stopping to keep the temps up in the convertors.

I used a bottle of STP fuel system cleaner and the code was gone, almost 3 weeks now.

could it be a dirty O2 sensor?

I will keep monitoring.

thanks guys for the advice.

Did you drive the vehicle as I recommended? This is sometimes a temporary "fix" and you still might have a failing convertor or O2 sensor.

I did not "bake" the sensor on highway. but I did try to "burn" it on my driveway for a short period of time.

I will scan the OBD2 and see what happens.

thanks wvicary
