Blow-out of front right radiator clip-plug_better solution?

I searched for past comments on this, couldn't see any but maybe mised them somewhere.

This is 01 Turbo but the part is probably same on reg 996......the Radiator 10D clip--plug is #996-106-545-71.

In hot-hard engine use they have been known to blow out......in my case, at the track.....not good.

Talking w/others, they have heard of a better, more permanant fixe than just replacement of the OE clip.

Can anyone share any info or point me in the right direction?.....TIA.

Hmm... I wonder if your bleeder valve on your coolant tank is working? The pressure should not get that high.

Just for your info. I have found, the hard way, there are 6 different sizes of clips on the TT . The numbers are 996-106-802-10 (-11,-12,-15,-16,-17) depending of the location on the car. Per example the -11 is a little smaller than the -10 ???? But the -12 is a lot bigger....I've made a mistake between two sizes (-10 and -11) and the clip did not hold properly.... Also i've purchase new ones and the clipping action was more firmed....In your case we are talking about -15 and -17, hope they were not misplaced...

Loren.....I'll see if there is a way to check function of that bleeder.......assume you are talking about up-top at the fill cap?

Your part numbers are dif than the one part number I supplied, so I assume mine must be the cap & appropriate clip combo?

I've never held one of these buggers in my hand........assume there is a removable cap of sorts that the (correct) clip holds in place?

Those clips look exactly like the turbo hose clips; I have blown them loose in the past. The correction was that you had to be very meticulous in lining up the hoses when you clicked them in.

I still think it is worth investigating whether you have too much pressure in the system.

Many shops have caps with pressure gauges built in (Stant makes them I think).

jpflip, the later on 996 Carrera use also those clips but have a different size, perhaps there is a misunderstanding in this matter.
