My Mechanic noticed the right inner support is broken for my exhaust. I have located 2 part #, Just wondering if any one knows which one will fit a 2003 C4S with PSE?

996 111 128 54

996 111 128 57

Is it a possible DIY? Anywhere else to get it but a P-car dealer? cheapest i found was $220US at Sonnen.

What is the consequences of leaving it alone? There are no rattles or anything right now.

For MY 2003 C4S you want 996-111-128-59.

The -57 number is for 3.6 liter cars and it has been updated to first -58 then -59. So -59 is the current replacement. US MSRP $323.79

Is it hard to replace? a DIY at home? After looking at it from under the car, it's hard to tell what needs to be removed to get to it.

Accessing the bolts at the top of the bracket with engine installed will be difficult or impossible.. This might require lowering the engine safely a good 6" or so. Would have to look at it to be certain.

Thanks, if the engine needs to be lowered then likely not a DIY. Would it be safe to try to weld it together? There isnt' too much stress through this part is there? Only 1 of the 2 support beams have broken off from the bracket.

Do you have a photo you can post?

I can not imagine a break that would require anything other than removing the muffler and bracket assembly and replacing the broken part.

I'm sure you could weld it, but there is fuel very very close to there, the fuel rails, fuel lines on the drivers side. Be very careful.

Also check ebay or a used parts place like oklahomaforeign, dcauto.com, etc.

As for the bolts, here is a pic of what you are dealing with... if you remove the mufflers and heat shields you might be able to access the top most bolts, it's worth checking out, I can't remember. In the top of the pic you see a flat piece with three bolt holes. Thats where the top of the bracket mounts to. There are two bolts holding the top of the bracket.

It is really easy to remove the mufflers and at least on my c4s there was no need to lower the engine. When mounting the passenger side muffler take care to connect the vacuum line before torqueing all bolts as it is really hard to reach once installed.
