I have my 2006 Cayenne S apart in my garage replacing the Cardan Shaft (bought a rebuilt one from Vertex).

I have spent hours prior to this making sure I had all the instructions and service manuals etc.

I have the shaft removed and have spent the last 1.5 hours trying to find the torque specs for all the bolts that were removed. The manual only listed the center support plate bolt specs.

Any help would be appreciated as I have to get my CS back together to take my son to school in the morning.

Thanks in advance

Sorry yes I mean the rear Cardan Shaft. I need the torque specs for the bolts to the final drive and the bolts on the flex disc. Are you saying they are all initial torque 20 ftlb then final torque 90 ftlb?

What I gave you is cardan shaft to rear final drive.

No not 90 ftlb. -- you torque to 22 ftlb. and then tighten (turn) the wrench another 90 degrees.

Not sure what you mean "flex disc"?

Damper to transfer box - 24 ftlb.

Cardan shaft triangular flange to transfer box - 56 ftlb.

Cardan shaft center bearing holder - 44 ftlb.

Thank you, that's exactly what I needed. Vertexauto calls the rubber ring to the transfer case a flex disc. I'm assuming it's actually called the "Damper". The Damper gets bolted to the transfer case and the Cardan Shaft triangular flange gets bolted to the Damper.

So just to clarify, the Cardan Shaft triangular flange to the damper gets torqued 56 ftlb.

Correct?

Are the rear bolts requiring the 90 degrees a one time use only bolt?

MBenz used to call the damper a flex disc.
