Hello all

I'm a first time Porsche owner and I'm new to this site. The site looks amazing - I have already picked up a lot from the posts -essential given that the Cayenne seems to be full of surprises and quirks! I recently purschased a 2004 Cayenne Turbo with Bose system. Is there any way of telling whether my car has the second battery installed or not, without taking the trunk apart?

No IJ2C on my options list - so presumably no second battery, then?

How do I find out what the rest of the options are on my options list?

And thanks for the quick response, Loren.

You need to send me your VIN in a PM.

Loren, thank you very much for sending the Car Data sheet for the options on my Cayenne.

I notice though, that this list has 135 entries, whereas the sticker in the trunk has only 36. For examply, the data sheet says 17B6 Six 12V sockets; when 17B6 is not listed on the sticker and I can see only four 12V sockets in the car.

PS: The Porsche dealer's answer to my question about how to find out if my Cayenne had the second battery or not was for me to bring my car in so that the dealer could take my trunk apart to look for the battery. Presumably to be done 'at the normal hourly rate'. Is there any good reason why the dealer could not use my VIN number to look up the options list on my car and give me the info over the phone?? Its the same dealer that told me that only Porsche could program a second key; that the remotes sold on Ebay were not programmable; then told me that I would need to pay them $435!! Were they perchance trying to gouge me just a little??].

Some "options" are market dependent so your US car gets certain "option" automatically because of the destination. The list I gave you shows them all as your car was built.

Perhaps another Cayenne owner can help you find all the sockets.

"Is there any good reason why the dealer could not use my VIN number to look up the options list on my car and give me the info over the phone??"

No, not that I can think of except if you brought the car in they might find something else you "need" done.

Keys need to be programmed to the car with a PIWIS - so any shop that has one could do it.

Thanks, wvicary. The vehicle did not come with the manuals - now on order from Ebay, and the first thing I did when joining this site was to download the manuals.

And Loren, thanks for the further info, incl on the PIWIS. I looked again and found the extra sockets in the roof of the footwell - very useful! I've printed out the car data sheet and will use it to go through the car again. I have also ordered a spare key from Ebay and will take it and the car to a locksmith with a PIWIS.

Loren, I have found code IJ0Z - '520A (110Ah) battery' on the Car data sheet you sent me for my car. Is this just the primary battery, or is this the second battery in the trunk?

Primary battery under the left front seat.
