Hi all have an 03 /4S tiptronic UK spec need to locate the starter relay as i want to connect this to my tracking product, so it can remotely disable the car.

thanks mike

The starter is controlled by the DME, but the ignition switch contact goes through the 'start lock' relay. It is in position 7 of Relay Support 2, which is under the carpet panel behind the rear seats.

thanks exactly where you said, basically the thin yellow is the wire from the gear selector lever purfect, for remote deactivation

Do you know the colour and position of the lock/unlock wire for central locking

thanks again mike

I know this relay group is under the carpet and behind the rear seats on the 996 2003).  However, is the group underneath the horizontal plate supporting the rear shelf, or is it behind the vertical section right at the back.

The reason I ask is that I have heard quite a lot about cars just stopping because of failure of the DME relay.   I thought I would get a spare and know how to get to it, should it fail.

Thanks for reading.

Hi,

I have a 996 MY2001 C4 Cab.  Do you know were the relay panel is? Behind my seats is the convertible top.  Any help would be great.  Thanks.

Check pages 4 to 8 of this SmartTop install manual - you will see (in the photos) how to get to the relay panel and the relays.
