Please read my postings at the link below for background on the issue http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/29382-multi-function-display-fades-out/page__st__20

I swapped my screens out yesterday, the results were flawless. It can be done! The new screen came out of a brand new Cayenne S cluster that was bought by a company for parts.I got lucky enough to get my hands on the screen to try this out. Hopefully the new screen has better longevity it hot florida sun.

Positive result, it's a massive difference and looks great. Luckily my display is still fine but please update if you find a supplier for the screens.

On another note, those power modules sold on ebay to cure this problem are bogus as you found no such device in your cluster?

wvicary,

Thank you, I am really pleased with the results and hopefully will be able to track down a place to order the screens soon.

The transformer modules that are being marketed for Cayennes are a complete joke and waste of money. The Cayenne's instrument clusters are made by Bosche. Those modules are made to fix a problem that occurs on instrument clusters made by VDO in their 220 series. These clusters are more commenly found on late 90s early 2000s Mercedes.

I noticed that you reside in Canada. The colder climate defin preserves the screen for longer life. I'm not 100% positive, but it appears Porsche started using a different model series screen for the 2008 facelift. So maybe this corrected the issue as well and the problem is isolated to 2002 -2006 models.
