Boxster has tiptronic transmission. Was hard to get in and out of gear the last few times. Finally, this piece broke.

It was attached to the switch on the transmission...

Fortunately, I found a donor piece and put it on (above pic). However, it is back to the way it was and I can't change gears. Its like the switch is bound up or something.

Any clue what is wrong? I can't find anything wrong with the cable (that not saying much though lol). It did move freely when the piece from the first pic was removed though. Transmission switch bad?

I have seen the black plastic ball socket crack and fail which I assume was due to heat. Best course of action is to remove the other link rod and see if it is the electrical switch at the gearbox or a different pivot point causing the issue. You should easily be able to move these components by hand.

After messing with it a little...Removed the rod between the bellcrank and the shift selector switch. The linkage is fine and moves freely, as does the bellcrank. It's the shift selector switch that is bound up. I can move it, but with a good bit of force, but still, not like it should go. How do I fix such a thing? Can it be fixed?

The switch must be taken from the gearbox in order to test the different positions manually (with a flat screwdriver or something similar) These switches have a relatively simple construction with little to no mechanical issues as bounding, it's usually the small shaft which cross the switch in to the gearbox which causes problems, in other words inside the Tiptronic. I hope for you that I'm wrong.

Ok...I got to the switch (the part that has the wiring that plugs into the harness). I'm left with this part in the pic. Does this part come out? If so...how do I go about getting it out?

It is disassembled from inside the gear box and pulled out. I can't remember but I think you need to remove the valve body and then the connecting linkage for the parking pawl before you can remove that unit.
