all help is needed please dont be shy and any opinions are welcome too .

I've never known the mounts to fail in a Cayenne yet, I think you're the first. What problems are being displayed that makes you suspect the mounts?

Engine mounts will not affect idle speed. Have you cleaned the throttle bodies?

its clean no black resdue in thethrotle body butterfly ?

but still idle drops for a split second while coming to stop light making the engine to vibrate for split second tho ?

also no engine errors coming up ?

I too haven't heard of the engine mounts going bad but have heard of the top Torque rod bushings going bad. But the possibility is there if they are active engine mounts.

Lower engine mounts are filed with oil and they can get collapsed through time.

Anyway I have vibrations at idle, but this could be only mounts related, coz engine is running great and smooth like it should.

Yep, the engine mounts are hydraulic and they do settle as gbratk mentioned.

The engine then transmits its vibes to the chassis without the dampening of the hydraulic mounts.

Cayenne S engine mounts can be done without engine removal.

Cayenne turbo needs the engine removed to replace the mounts.

Regarding the idle drop, the new mounts mask the vibration felt during the sub idle condition when coming to a stop.

The new mounts do not fix the root cause of the sub idle condition.

I havent carried out the mount replacements so don't know if it can be done without engine removal for the turbo.

Below is the statement from the maintenance manual 10-35-19.

This task can only be performed in the Cayenne S (M48/00) if the engine has been removed or suspended on the body. This description covers suspension on the body.

The engine must be removed on the Cayenne Turbo (M48/50) → 100119 Removing and installing V8 4.5 l engine - section on "Removing". The turbochargers are removed next. → 213021 Removing turbocharger - section on "Removing" [9PAAF1 9PAAJ1]→ 213021 21 Removing turbocharger - section on "Removing" [9PAAE1 9PAAE7].

As I look I think it could be done without the engine removal in CS. I planing to do it soon, coz those slight vibrations at idle making me nervous.

Need to replace both lower motor mounts on my 2004 Cayenne S. Any tutorial or pointers? Best practice without a lift or dropping engine? Thanks! Oh, best price and parts?

As stated above you may want to be sure you have the tools and equipment to do this job. Not an easy DIY.

Just to reiterate what loren has said there really is no way to do the job without having the engine suspended from the body and the front axle sub-frame removed.  The mounts sit down in little cups on the engine carrier and they have a stud that goes up through the brackets bolted to either side of the engine.  Unfortunately this is really not a shade tree mechanic job at all on the V8 engines.  Now the vr6 is a different story.

No need to drop the engine. Just loosen the bolts from the subframe and you will get them out. I did it while the car was on jack stands.
