...at least I couldnt find this in the search. My tailgate will not unlock with handle or remote and neither will the window. It DOES pull the door in when I close it and the wiper and washer have power. Their is no noise when I attempt to unlock with the handles or remote and the comfort settings in the console are correctly set. Im guessing it will be something simple and plan to take the inner cover off this weekend but any advice will be gratefully accepted. MY elderly dog is tired of being side loaded and I am tired of crawling through the back to get to the emergency release. By the way, my car does NOT have the gas cap and tailgate release in the drivers door and my Durametric is not pulling any codes.

I investigated under the inner lid and could find nothing visibly amiss. Another check of all of the fuses and all are intact. Any ideas what to check next ? I hate to run her into the dealership....should I try disconnecting the battery for a few?

The tailgate switches feed into the rear comfort systems control unit.

This unit may be faulty or more likely just needs a reset.

Pulling and resetting the applicable 5 amp fuse (fuse #53 under the left dashboard panel, check your owners manual under the fuses section for clarification) or disconecting the battery for a few minutes may indeed fix your issues.

Many thanks - I will try pulling the fuse first. I am having a run of bad luck this week. I lost the whole of the front right headlight cluster function over the weekend and tonight the check brake pad and washer fluid level lights came on. Maybe I should replace the battery as well.....

Pulling the fuse didnt help. Any suggestions as to how I find the comfort control unit. I have the dvd player behind the rear right panel

It turned out to be fuse 31 on the right side of the dash. The handbook says this 15A circuit handles central locking power mirrors and power windows. On my car it controlled the tailgate and rear window lock only - go figure. So now everything is working again and all I need to do is change the front disc pads which I plan to do on my new four post lift this weekend !!!!
