2004 Cayenne Turbo Tune - Difference between FVD and others

I am looking into the various ECU tunes available. I am leaning towards FVD due to price and the DIY nature of the flash. I am wondering if there are any compromises by doing it this way. What is the difference between FVD's flash and a company like Evoms where you send in your ecu? Thanks.

I believe softronics has a cayenne tune.... might be a swap though....

we have their flash kit here now but ive yet to do one so i cant comment on their flash's yet..

Thanks for the reply, but I am specifically looking for the difference between do it yourself and send it in. Are they modifying different files, using a different tool than the dimsport MyGenius provided by FVD?

Don't forget these guys. I have heard great things about them from Audi guys and 911 Turbo guys. I guess they will also customize a tune if your close by with your vehicle on a Dyno, that would be optimum. Eurocharged also sells the MyGenuius loading tool so you can do it yourself.

I just reviewed their website. Very impressive with good reviewes. Can they actually dyno 4-wheel drive cayenne? Anyway, prices are reasonable, if gains are not exaggerated, or drivability is not adversely affected. I am even tempted to try it on my C55 AMG in addition to the CT. I presume you do not have it on your cayenne turbo s. I wonder if any one here has used their sofware on their cayenne

No, I'm not using their software yet but I did send them an E-mail yesterday asking if I could use the MyGenius tool for both of my Audi's as well as the Cayenne. I am on the Audi RS6 forum and they (Eurocharged) have become one of the top software tuners for RS6 guys and they are well thought of as one of the newer software tuners on the 911 Turbo site.

I had not seen these diy flashes for the Cayenne before. Very interesting! The MyGenius says that it does NOT come with any flashes though and that it is married to one VIN. Has anyone gotten a price on the the flash itself?

I am very seriously considering the Upsolute tune for Cayenne Turbo (you do have to send them the ECU though). I ran Upsolute on a highly modded (big turbo) Passat 1.8T several years ago and their tune worked VERY well. They are also priced a bit lower than the other tunes.

I believe both methods will do the same thing. I don't think you will be making a compromise either way (other than the fact that one way requires you to send in the ecu).

Basically it comes down to the "installation" method. I will give you an example...I have had several turbo VW's and turbo Audi's flashed with tunes over the years. The last few times I have used APR (which the tunes are awesome BTW). Luckily I had a local APR authorized shop do the last one. I simply drove the car to that shop and they plugged their computer into the car, about 15 minutes later I was driving with the new tune and added power. The other option was for me was to mail away the ECU...same tune just a different install :)

I found that the MyGenius (just a sofware loading tool optimized for Motronic) is VIN specific so it can't be used on separate vehicles but if an improved or modified software is available they can just E-mail it to you where you load it into the MyGenius and reflash it. The problem I see with some of the ECU removal ones is whether they are soldering on a new chip, if so they you can't easily go back to OEM software when you sell it or take it to a dealer for work. I'm not sure of Upsolute, but why would they need it removed rather than just run by a dealer? MTM is a great German tuning company but they also solder on their own chip.

If you have an upsolute dealer locally, I don't think you'd have to mail it away. Not sure if they have to solder in a chip on the Cayenne either or if they just hook up and flash it. I spoke to them about cost and turn around time only. I will ask about exactly how they do it as well.

Does anyone have any recent before and after real world dyno readings for these ECU tunes?

Also is there any specific advice or procedure for putting a Cayenne on an AWD rolling dyno? (Mustang / DynoDynamics / Mainline)
