I know...I know... But they are supposed to have better performance and emmisions.

Really? I doubt Porsche chose OEM plugs that do not give the best performance and emissions. Don't believe all the marketing hype of "better than OEM solutions".

I agree with wvicary stick with OEM - but it's your $30,000 (plus) engine.

Yea, remember all the advertising Splitfire did years ago and the inflated price they had. There was no independent Dyno results showing Splitfires had any gains and some magazine articles with Dyno tests showed losses. I can't find any independent Dyno tests of the E3's yet either and I'll make a bet that in a couple of years they'll be a quarter the price fo what their selling for now after more negative publicity on their performance.

Yeah these things come and go. Unfortunately there has been several "dyno tests" but when you really think about it....there is too much going on during a dyno run that can cause biased data.....too many variables for too little of a gain.

I've been building my own race motors for a while now and i don't bother with any of that hype. For a stock motor, just stick with the stockers.....there is nothing additional coming into your motor (air/fuel) so there is no reason you would need a different type of plug.

For my track motors, i run much higher boost and timing, and to try and fight predetonation, i run a cooler ranged plug (BK7s)

You won't cause any phyiscal harm to your motor by changing plugs(stay in the same heat range)......but you won't ever see/feel any difference.....Sorry

Do OEM sparkplugs really cost $20 each? (Suncoast = $160/set) Are they available under a Bosche P/N from a parts supplier?

Ignition timing in your motor is a well choreographed dance, and deviating from the OE spark plug doesn't usually net any gains (and often hurts them) unless your motor was tuned to run those plugs. Plugs aren't an arbitrary thing that are supposed to be improved upon. The fueling and timing maps are made specifically for the plugs the manufacturer specs.
