I have a 2001 996 C4 with Auto Dimming mirrors. The interior mirror has what appears to be a "bubble" or air pocket in it and has failed. Thankfully, no liquid has dripped out of the mirror (I've read the liquid is corrosive and can damage interior components). Any experience with this problem? I'm thinking I will have to replace the mirror. Thanks!

I have had this bookmarked for sometime in case I have the problem you are describing. No experience with them, just glad to have an alternative to dealer replacement.

Thanks Hal. The OEM part is $400+ online (part number 9967315110201C), so having it repaired for less than $100 seems worth a try. Here is a secondary (bit more expensive) source for repair:

Sybesma's Electronics

www.sybesmas.com

On a related note, I discovered a small push button switch on the bracket that supports the mirror. This button adjusts the brightness of the orientation LEDs on the door handles and mirror.

Removing the mirror seems straight forward, if I discovery any glitches then I'll be sure to post.

Contact Scott at www.radarmirror.com. He can help you out with repair or replacement. He can also do other things like adding Homelink to your existing mirror while he has it for repairs.
