red dash alarm light stays lit constantly

I had a dead battery and after I charged the battery back up, This light that normally just blinks is on constantly. I have no blown fuses. Any advice? I found no mention of what this might mean in the owner's manual.

the one that normally flashes when the alarm is set. right in the middle of the dashboard, on the top where the dash meets the glass, right in the middle of the car (side to side).

I think you can get that in an "emergency locking" situation.

Try double clicking the alarm and then starting the car.

I believe Loren is correct. It is common for the alarm system to go into fault mode when the battery is changed out.

Okay, I'll give it a try. by "double clicking the alarm" I'm going to guess that means pressing the key lock / unlock button twice.

I tried clicking my key remote button (the lock / unlock) button twice and then turning the key on in the ignition. It didn't fix the problem. Am I doing it wrong? Any other suggestions?

Do you have access to a Durametric, PST2, or PIWIS tester?

Time to see if there are fault codes and or reset them.

Sorry, my mistake Durametric does not reset alarm system faults. It can read but not reset.

You will need a PST2 or PIWIS tester.

Be very careful about online PIWIS clones, while some are actually ripped off copies of early versions of the real software, many are early versions of the Durametric (or other non useful software). Porsche takes a really dim view of people that sell copies what they see as their intellectual property, and tend to come down very hard on them.

While a real PIWIS system lease is way outside the price range of all but the most dedicated individuals (well north of $15,000 for the first year), the Durametric software and cable is very good, reasonably priced at about $300, and affords you all future updates as well.

Just a thought..............
