This is in regards to a 2002 c4s manual transmission.

I had my shop put on some bilstein supesion and of course the 1st one was a learning curve and the other 3 went perfect. My question when doing the 1st one on the Driver Sides Front they pulled out the halfshaft from the front differential. The question I have does the differential just push back into place or do you have to open up the Differential. That is what they thought. They never told me this happened and when I was setting the shocks and testing on the street I noticed oil leaking brough back to shop and put on lift and noticed the driveline backed out about 1/2 inch and now losing the oil in it. I have stopped the car and will trailer it to a tech, but am just curious how it all works to see if I have ruined anything. The car ran great and all noises normal.

Does anyone happen to have a schematic of the Differential and drivline and hub?

The half-shaft on pops into differential and is held in place by a circlip. Make sure the seal on the differential is not damaged where the shaft goes into - Simple $30 swap. Don't forget to top off with approved gear oil.

When I put the PSS10's on my car (2000 C4) the half shaft on the drivers side came out of the differential. I did not see the circlip. I cleaned up the splined end of the shaft and slid it back in. Then when driving I noticed a leak. It turned out that the shaft had not slid all the way back in so that the race eas fitted into the season the diff housing. I used a wooden drift held against the flange on the half shaft and light taps with a hammer to slide the shaft all the way in. No more leak. So I had the diff fluid topped up and it has been 8,000-10,000 miles and no more leak and the shaft has never come back out.

Now I am not sure if the circlip was on the end of the shaft or not, but they don't seem to hold the shaft In very strongly if that is what they are supposed to do.

Just my experience.
