Hey, have an 01 Boxster with a hood latch that releases when the car is unlocked with the key fob and when you use key in door. It also releases randomly when driving. It has been adjusted and the latch assembly appears to be fine.

So what could cause the system to randomly send a signal to unlatch the hood?

Anyone have this issue before?

Thanks!!!

Thanks! Actually we went through that process before posting. The solenoid for the front trunk release is actuating and opening the latch. We closed latch manually with the hood open and as soon as we hit lock or unlock on the key fob the solenoid actuates and latch unlocks.

Could it be the alarm control unit?

Thanks.

Sure, but you will likely need a PST2 or PIWIS to diagnose the alarm system. Unless of course the alarm box got wet (under the left seat). If that is the case then the alarm box is likely toast. A Porsche system tester will tell you for sure.

I'm having the same problem

Just took the car out of heated storage and the hood opens when I push the door lock fob

I close the hood and can't move 10 feet and the hood pops.

No need to shout here.

Please tell us the model year of your Boxster so we know if you have the cable release or the electronic release.
