Brake rotor wear limit

I've done a search and didn't find exactly what I needed because of all the different brakes that porsches come with. I have a 2006 C2 and I'd like to know what the minimum thickness is of the brake rotors. I probably won't get them turned down, but I would like to know when they should be replaced. Thanks again.

If you remove the wheel, it should be stamped on the outside top edge of the hat.

The normal (non S version) of the 997-1 has the same specs as the 996 series.

Here are the specs (Carrera only, GT3 specs are different):

Brake disc thickness, new -- front 28 mm, rear 24 mm

Minimum brake disc thickness after machining* -- front 26.6 mm, rear 22.6 mm (* The brake disc must only be reworked symmetrically, i.e. from both sides evenly.)

Brake disc wear limit -- front 26.0 mm, rear 22.0 mm

Peak-to-valley surface roughness of the brake disc after machining, max. -- 0.006 mm

Thickness tolerance of the brake discs, max. -- 0.02 mm

Lateral runout of the brake disc, max. -- 0.03 mm

Lateral runout of the wheel hub, max. -- 0.03 mm

Lateral runout of the brake disc when installed, max. -- 0.06 mm

Is this information also stamped on the hat for a 996? Does anyone have a picture illustrating where this is stamped? I had my wheels off last night, and am trying to determine what needs to be replaced. I have an '02 C4s and the front pads are about 5mm the rear 8mm. The rotors were 32.5 mm front and 27 mm rear.

The breaks have been making a squeaking noise for a few weeks now which sounded like the wear indicator, but now I am not sure. Does anyone have the specs for minimum pad wear / rotor thickness on an 02 C4S?

Sorry guys, I did a search but did not find the thread you linked to. (I am sure this is the first time you have heard that :blush: ) Anyway in an attempt to repent, I took some pictures of the stamp on my 996 C4S. I assume the location of the stamp should be similar on any models where this is applicable.

At first it was quite difficult to make out the stamp, but I rubbed the edge of the hat with a piece of chalk, rubbed it down with my finger, and it was clear enough to read and photograph. Hopefully this info will clear up questions for anyone wondering about other years and models.

Feel free to move this post if it is not relevant, just trying to add some info.
