Hi, recently I have personally changed the oil, filters and spark plugs on my '06 Cayman S. Today, a message appeared: "Service within 30 days ... " Is there any way to manually delete the message without the use of a tester?

thanks

Found this on Durametric V5 software instructions:

Common Problems and Solutions

Cannot reset the instrument cluster on 997, Cayman, Boxster (987)

Sometimes the instrument cluster does not accept the reset command. To clear the

instrument cluster remove the fuse for the instrument cluster after using the software to

reset the reminder. Simply removing the fuse will not clear the service reminder; it will

only reset the instrument cluster.

What does this mean? If I remove the fuse what happens?

Thanks

I have no idea, I do not use that version of the software, and I have no issues resetting the service reminders.

To my knowledge, version 5 is not the most current “enthusiast” software.

It sounds as though the version 5 is resetting the DME, but not the physical display in the dash for some reason. Pulling the fuse will force the dash display to reread the DME when it powers up, and will find the alert gone and stay clear. You might want to drop Durametric an email for further explanations; they have been pretty responsive in the past.

There were issues with Durametric v.5 and 987s resetting the Service reminder, because, I was told, the reset signal had to be sent in a very short window (on the order of a few milliseconds) for it to go through. Many people using slow laptops or not running them on A/C power, had issues with it not working.

As far as I know, there have been no problems using Durametric v.6 (current) and resetting the Service Reminder.

From Durametric Technical Support:

"

Troubleshooting tips for Porsche Boxster (987), Cayman, and 911 (997)

Here is a list of the most common problems and solutions specifically for the Porsche Boxster (987), Cayman, and 911 (997)

Service Reminder

Be sure there are no fault codes in the engine, instrument cluster, ABS, or airbag units. Durametric version must be 5.0.8.0 or higher. If the instrument cluster does not reset automatically when resetting the service reminder, remove the instrument cluster fuse for ten seconds with the key out before replacing the fuse."

It is not entirely true, I used V.3.0.15 and a clone cable , but the procedure works.
