I gather the part numbers are different, but how different are they if there is a difference.

Will the 997 ones fit without alterations because they do look quite similar.

Yep I don't believe they will fit without mods (welding/adapters). The tubes coming out of the mufflers are slightly different between 996/997.

I just put a set of 997 cats on my 02 996 C4. They do fit and it is a direct bolt replacement. They seem to be a little shorter ( 1/4 - 1/2 inch ) but I was able to get them close enough and the clamp did the rest. No gas leak and so far no check engine light. I replaced my cats 2 years ago with high performance ones and I got tired of the check engine light popping up whenever the wife drove it. Finally went back to standads and got a sweet deal on the 997 cats. Let me know if you want me to take any pics.

Hi,

I bought x pipes 200 cell catalytic converters for my 06 997. I have a problem with the back pressure. Misfiring at low revs when accelerate. I have 02 996 catalaytic converters and am thinking to install it on my 06 2006 997. Do i need any extra parts to fit them?
