My 996 2000 6 speed is having some issues again. I have no reverse lights and passenger side rear driving / fogs are out. Replaced the head light switch with a new one today, exact same issue. Fuses look ok. Bulbs ok can anyone suggest any furthur testing. Would hate to start throwing more money at the problem with out a clear direction. Especially since new tail light harnesses are $125 each.

Thanks for your continued support.

The backup light is probably due to a faulty reverse sensor on top of your transmission. Easy to replace.

The rear passenger fog light does not work as far as I know, only the drivers side.

Any idea where I can go to verify the passenger fog / driving light? I appreciate your reply. There is a bulb in the socket on the passenger side....Very interesting. I will look into the manual to see if there is anything there.

Thank you

Man you are right...What a moron.. I need to check first then ask don't I. Bought new bulbs and everything... So just on to the reverse light switch next week.

Thank you

I have the same issue with the reverse lights only intermittant working and reverse parking sensors not working.

Mines a 02 996 Tiptronic - assume it's the faulty reverse sensor on top of the transmission too?

Sorry not sure about that model tip and if it has the same reverse sensor or if it is internal to the transmission, but the following thread might help (and perhaps a post in there with a question)...
