Hi All,

I have a MY99 with 40k & the CEL popped up Friday after dropping my little one @ Montessori. The car stalled on the way out of the parking lot but did not think anything about it, until I reached the red light. Car was idling rough & just stalled, started again and pushed it & works ok. But at the next red light, car stalls again. So I finally made it back home with the traffic and now it sits in the garage. My son is bummed out since ride the Boxster in the morning to school until this gets resolved.

Any ideas? Did a forum search & saw a post in the 996 section about Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Can anyone elaborate on this issue? Thank you. Appreciate any assistance from the board.

Update to issue:

Removed engine cover to replace the TPS and the wires to the unit were chewed up by a freaking mice. Soldered all wires back together, cleared CEL, and everything is good to go. Time to set some traps in the garage. Thank you both for the assistance. This board is the best.

You can put bait in the engine bay too if the car is going to sit for a while.

Also don't laugh, but opening the engine bay during storage makes that space much less cozy for them... I've seen this done in a number of pest infected areas.

I was at a quick oil change place and another customer commented how much trouble he had with squirrels chewing up the wiring in his truck (sat outside). He used Coyote urine under the hood to protect the truck from the squirrels. The guys on the oil change crew were not amused.

Placed some poison underneath the Boxster and found the deceased rat on the side of the yard 2 days later. Mission complete.
