Replacing the carpet in my 1997 Boxster. Previous owner was a serious smoker and did not believe in ashtrays apparently.

Found this wire pinched inside the spring under the passenger seat. At first i thought it was just caught in the spring but after I removed the seat it became clear that this wire is enclosed in the spring...Any ideas how it got this way?

All Brown is a ground wire so nothing too serious.

I would just cut and splice back (solder the connection and shrink wrap the wire).

I have no idea how they did that... unless they were doing the ground updates for the airbag light and somehow let a loose end get through there.

I have seen many occasions where the wiring has become damaged. I believe it's from careless techs not correctly fastening or routing the harness after removing the seat for whatever reason.
