Ok, as the title says, has anyone replaced the safety switch on the Tip trans, and if so, how much of an ordeal is it? I fear mine is taking its last bowel movement as the only way to start my car is to move from Park to Neutral numerous time intil it starts, which is far and few currently. Any info would be great. Dont want to take it in, and its getting a bit cold to be riding my Harley.

Thanks

Jim

Jim:

Here is a diagram showing the neutral safety switch on the side of the Tiptronic. Access is relatively easy, with only a couple of bolts and the electrical connector to contend with.

Thanks Maurice. Quick question. According to the Bently repair manual, you have to support the engine, remove a cat to access this. Can it be done without doing all this? If not, I'll need to take it in as I dont have the proper tools to do this.

Thanks

Jim

The cat is directly in the way of removing this switch; it either has to be removed or loosened enough to get around it. The easiest thing to do is just pull it.

Mine still says it's in reverse after replacing neutral safety switch.  Anything else I should be replacing?  Key is stuck due to not in park.
