I'm not sure this is an acceptable question as I'm fully aware this is more of a technical forum. I'm thinking of buying a 2nd hand 987 in the '06 - '08 range. However, I'm wondering, as a rule of thumb, how much the price is expected to go down with the introduction of 981 next March in Geneva? Is the market more or less efficient such that the news is already priced in, or should I expect a better deal if I wait until March? This also applies to 911 (with the intro of 991) as I'm unsure whether to go for a boxster or 911. I've never bought a 2nd hand car before hence the general anxiety about the time of such purchase. Any expert advise in that regard would be much appreciated.

Interesting what can happens to used P cars when a new model is released. My friend who is a Used Porsche dealer tells me that sometimes prices actually go up a bit on the used cars once the new model is released. He says this is because of the huge difference in price from the new model to the used previous model. Because few people can actually afford go out and buy the new model it drives up the price of the previous used model (which is more affordable for most of us.) This phenomenon may not last for long but it does happen. Don't be afraid to get used late model 987 0r 911. Drive both and see which one suits you. Just try to get a CPO car and the warranty will give you piece of mind. Don't buy a P car without a warranty. That's my opinion anyway...
