Today, I changed the engine oil and filter on a 2008 Cayenne Turbo with 9400 mi. I've seen photos from other contributors of their oil change procedures for the V6 Cayenne and was expecting exactly the same thing when I creeped myself under the car.

When I removed the plastic panels from under the car, I was confused. This car only had one drain plug and the filter housing was on a 45 degree slant towards the passenger (right) side covered by a U shaped hydraulic line.

It actually sounded the same as Dutch's Transsyberia write up:

The space around the filter assembly is very tight - not enough to put a zip-loc bag around it. Might have a better chance making a shield out of a milk carton to deflect the oil away from other parts. I didn't do either and I was cleaning for at least an hour. On the bright side, the under carriage is immaculate now.

The filter casing is huge with a big hexagon nut molded on it. I don't think the filter wrench for the V6 Cayenne (000.721.920.40) would work. There's not enough space for a strap wrench. So, I used a pair of 12 in. ChannelLock pliers.

And what surprised me the most. The Turbo took 11 quarts of Mobil1 0W-40 oil! I am so glad I bought a dozen bottles.

All in all, it took me 4 hours - doubting myself against everybody's photos for a good 2 hours.

I finally got to get the photos off the phone camera.

This is the only drain plug for the engine oil. Notice other pipes where second plug would be on V6 vehicles.

This is the oil filter housing. Bottom of photo is front of vehicle. Notice the two fabric wrapped pipes that is in the way of accessing the filter cap. This photo was taken BEFORE removing the cap.

Also, there is a aluminum sleeve for the bolt shaped like an hour glass when you remove the bolt holding the fabric wrapped hydraulic line. Don't lose it.
