My mechanic put my only remote key in the trunk after locking the doors with the remote. I have the valet key, and my manual release trunk lever is locked - to prevent theft I assume.

How can I get into the trunk, either using the valet key, or, is there an emergency release cable on pre-2000 MY cars???

Thanks.

Cool! I figured there would be an emergency release, just in case! Thanks for the photos.

Do you think I could snag that loop if I remove the passenger side marker?

Nope, there's no slack in the cable at all and you have to get in the very bottom corner below the headlight housing.

Jack the front of the car, remove the wheel.

Removing the wheel liner is not very difficult to do with a 10mm socket and a flat head screwdriver or pair of pliers.

Then you have clear access to the loop.

Some owners have reported there is no loop, and that it is just a cable end (like bike cable), and you have to pull on it with some pliers.

It's pretty tight in there, my finger doesn't fit.

Now that I know where this is in the future for one of those "just in case" moments!
