Porsche recommends new valves with the new sensors.

Basically the tire has to be deflated and the bead broken enough to get your hand (and a wrench) inside to replace the sensor and bolt.

if I am thinking about buying an extra set of rims (OEM or other brand,) can I simply buy the TPMS parts and have my tire shop install when they fit with new tires? Is the TPMS part number for cayenne: 955 361 053 00? Are there other parts I would need? Just curious as I was thinking of getting these right off ebay. I have a 08 CTT.

Sometimes the TPMS sensors have corrosion built inside or around the sensor thus making it very difficult to remove or servicing them. Becareful how you handle them. They can be fragile since they are made out of aluminum.

Freakin expensive. Nice tire gauge and some vigilance goes a long way. Oh and grab a compressor while you are at it; an inflation chuck and 50' of hi pressure line. Still cheaper.

I usually put a dab of grease on the tip of the sensor then install the cap to keep it from corroding.
