Engine roar is weaker after 3 months of no battery

Hello,

I recently had my 97 Boxster painted. It took 3 months to finish and the battery was removed during the time. I just got the car today. Aside from my top having problems (had already posted it in a separate topic), I noticed that my engine is somewhat slower after. Previously, before the paint job, I remember my engine sound and roar very loudly specially on the high RPMs. But now the sound is kind of weaker, quieter & tamed. Does this have something to do with the computer forcefully ressetting or something? Is it because of the 3 month inactivity with no battery? The performance on torque and revving and speed build up is somewhat affected as well by something like 20-30%. (just my approximate based on my feel of the car)

Though idling and starting had no problems. 1 click start.

Anyone got insights on this? Do I need to bring it to the dealer to have the computer reset or to have it reprogrammed or sport-tuned?

Any input is welcome guys.

The ECU does need a few drive cycles to "re-learn" after the battery was disconnected.

However, I'm not sure that would account for a 20% difference. I'm also not sure someone could feel that big of a difference just from having the DME reset.

Was the engine removed or parts removed from it while painting?

No engine parts were removed. Only body parts, fenders, doors, hoods etc.

Your car will need a cycle or so to re-learn it's parameters. You might also try filling with fresh gas and see how that goes.

If it's been a while since you've drivien it, it may be your ears that need recaiibration. Yop up and top down also has a big effect on the audibles.

Not only me noticed it. My friends also noticed a quiter engine/exhaust after the 3 month long sleep of the car.

Do you think driving it a few hundred miles more will get it back to its old roar?

This is kind of far fetched but during a period of storage it might be possible that mice or other animals have entered the car and taken up housekeeping. You could check the air filter. Go ahead and laugh but it happens. I remember a TV show about finding classic cars and there is a Ferrari that's been stored for years. The first time they start the car a whole bunch of nuts and shells came flying out the tailpipe because animals had been living inside the muffler.
