Hello,

I own a 968 Cabriolet and I have been researching about it's VIN number.

The number is:

WPOZZZ96ZPS830283

And a couple of things are odd...

1 - acording to the VIN number the car was build in 1993, but the car was registered in October 1992

2 - what is the 13th digit (a 3 in this case) suposed to mean? In scousers decoder it says "Unknown coding. Please report this error code (3-968-80)". I know it's suposed to be the engine/body type designation, but I can't find anywhere the meaning for the Porsche 968.

If anyone can help in understanding these two things I would be very grateful.

Best regards

Diogo Couto

1. 1993 would be the "model year" and 1992 would be the build year. In the US this is referred to as 1993 model.

2. The 13th digit is the first number of a 5 digit serial number.
