Hi, this is my first post. I've been a browser mostly, but I must say, great site for "how to". I have a few questions on a MOMO shift knob. Will it work with a horseshoe boot? Can it fasten to a B&M short shift? And lastly, is it possible to use a MOMO shift boot as well. If anyone has experience, pics or any input with a MOMO shift knob or boot in a Boxster or Porsche it would be highly appreciated. I attached a link to some MOMO shift knobs/boots/installation instructions as well. Thanks.

You would have to grind the flat bladed shift levers used by Porsche and B&M to make them a smaller diameter. The boots shown it the link look nothing like what would fit a Boxster. This is a B&M and oem shift.

Thanks. I figured I would have to grind it. Any suggestions on how to grind (if I decide to do so)? Again, thanks, I appreciate the reply.

If you want to use the oem shift then I guess you can grind the flat blade to the proper size while it is in the car. If I was doing this I would remove the shift tower assembly and then take it to a grinder. I assume Momo uses a set screw.

If you are going with a B&M then you would grind it before you install it.

You can buy the horseshoe trim boot from Gert and attach it to the Momo shift. Or you can use the oem boot. This is what Danny did in the middle picture - except he has a B&M and also cut down the shift lever.

If you have the standard shift knob then you will have to cut the boot off and reuse it.

Hey TP this is Danny....man seems as though you post pics of my car everywhere!

As far as the friding goes....I actualy opted to grind down the inside of the shift knob instead of the shifter incase I wanted to go back to stock some day.....which wont happen. LOL

Thanks for the info ToolPants. I actually saw this pic of Danny's car somewhere on the internet, I think you posted it on Rennlist. Therefore, I knew it was possible. Danny thanks for your input as well. How did you actually do the grinding of the inside of the shift knob? Was it fairly simple? I think I want to go this route. I may go back to stock one day, or need to when selling the car.

It takes some time and dedication and definitely a steady hand.

The first Momo knob I retrofitted I actually just used a dremel and grinded it down.

The second knob was a full stainless steel knob which looked like it would be a little harder so I took it to my machine shop and milled it out.

Found it. Same picture of your car is in the ad with the background clutter removed.

I'm not sure a lemon would fit my hand - not to mention that the texture of a lemon's peel would cause it to become slippery under 'sweaty palm' driving conditions.

Is there a coconut version available? This would give you size, texture, and a touch of the exotic caribbean all in one nominal upgrade . . .
