Today I've learned that Porsche A.G. Germany has started a new regulation regarding the spare parts. According to this new regulation only parts purchased from Porsche dealers in country from where your car is purchased are allowed to be activated by obtaining a code from Germany. They said that this decidion was mainly made to somehow stop people selling stolen car the parts to other countries.

I must say I am very disapointed as I was planing to buy an Ipod kit and few other parts from US on my next visit :(

dont listen to everything your delaer tells you... you can still buy any kit for PCM3.0 in any country and have an indipendent dealer with PIWIS put in a code to activate it. I have installed voice control, IPOD kit, BT, Camera into my PCM 3.0 without paying anything to Porsche for the codes.

BTW, Porsche is not concerned about trade in stolen parts but missing on profit with people buyinp parts based how cheap local currency is.

Go and ask your dealer if it will be possible to bring Porsche from USA to Europe and certify it. He/she will tell you that it is nearly impossible, would require $$$ of upgrades, would not be supported by Porsche, will have no warranty, etc etc. All that is 100% BS.

You are right. That's what I suspect too but under these circumstances I just don't know what to do.

I asked the guy at the authorised service "How about if the authorised dealer from the country where I purchased the part gets the activation code for me?"

He told me that when they install a new PCM 3.0 module it needs to be activated by a PIWIS device. Every PIWIS device generates a different activation code that needs to be sent to Germany along with the car's VIN code. In turn the Germany would send the correct activation code. If the Porsche Germany sees that this part is purchased from a different country then they will not send the activation code. That's why this is impossible. He said that the only way would be if I took my car abroad and have it installed there with the PIWIS device of that dealer.
