Have a look at TSB 10/03 9110 Porsche Communication Management 2 - PCM2 (dated 05-25-04) -- Installing new generation PCM2. Only for vehicles with CD radio CDR23. You will need the correct trim pieces to match your car and you will need to have it turned on with a PST2 or PIWIS tester.

Loren, does that mean you can retrofit the Most bus into the '04 GT3 ?

Gert,

I haven't tried this yet but the TSB imples that it isn't a problem. The TSB says: "Vehicle Type: 911 Carrera (996) / 911 Targa (996) / 911 GT3 (996)

Model Year: As of '03 (3)"

It never talks about connection of any waveguide components and says in step 8.4 (using a PST2) "Code the PCM2 according to vehicle type, versions, country-specific tuner settings and MOST switch."

Sorry revive an old thread, but I am in the middle of this install and can't get any sound out of my speakers. The unit will light up and does everything else, but put sound to the speakers, it states: failure ampifier not found. My 2004 GT3 did not have the bose option and does not have an amplifier. I did get the amp from the car that I got pcm2 from, but I am wondering if it is absolutely necessary to install it. I don't have the orange fiber optic cables plugged into the pcm because I don't have an amplifier in the car. Can I have the dealership to program the pcm to stop searching for an external amp, and program it to use its internal amp? If it has an internal amp? Any help with this install would be appreciated.

The cables you need will be dependent on the options in your car.

So what will the fiber optic cables connect to if I do not have an amplifier in the car?

Sorry to be an amature, but how do I find this TSB? Haven't quite mastered this application and searching seems to not yield the results.

Thanks B)

Go to the top drop down menu "DIY Menu" - > choose "Current TSBs" -> find you model car and click on the link for a listing of all TSBs for that model.

You can use the search at the bottom to find a specific TSB by subject, number or date.

I also do not have the amp in my car.. I have a fiber optic loop back plug installed in the PCM2. It works without the amp. There is an internal amp which powers the speakers

Hi Serge - Thread resurrection time (thank you google! :) )anything special about your setup? I have a Bose MOST PCM2 in my car which has failed with the "Cannot communicate with amplifier, CD Changer, Telephone" MOST failure and no audio. I'd very much like to switch to speaker output on the PCM2 and I'll hook up a speaker driven amp to driver the speakers. Is this the same process that you went through or was your PCM2 always coded to speaker out ... can you confirm the steps required? I have a loopback and I have durametric PIWIS.

I'm pretty sure that the root cause of my MOST problems is the amp, in an ideal world I'd actually like to loop out the amp, keep the rest of the MOST components running, and just run from the speaker terminals. I know most people go for a head unit swap out ... but I'd really like to keep the system running if I can.
