Dear Renntech,

I had just parked my 996MY99C2 and upon locking the car with the remote, I got a double horn beep back and checked to see if the doors indeed had locked. The doors were unlocked. I tried again with the same result, and then opted for locking with the key. The driver-side door locks but the passenger side remains unlocked with the double horn beep to follow. However, the trunk, engine compartment, and gas lid are locked (and does not disengage lock with key opening).

Once home I inserted my laptop with Durametric cable and read the alarm fault memory.

Fault codes as follows:

34: interior sensor faulty (status present)

58: tank servo motor not energized (status present)

60: central locking limit position (lock not reached)

33: interior sensor faulty (status not present)

46: control locking synchronization (status present)

61: central locking limit position (status not present)

The lights are all inoperable inside the car. The window motors does not operate with controls, but the windows (both sides) lower and close with the doors closing.

The alarm system fuse B8 (15AMP) seems OK.

Overall it seems that the alarm system is out of sync with the doors OR the passenger side lock mechanism is bust.

Any help is good help!

sorry, theres loads of information there from the workshop manual. Its assumed in the manual that your using PST2 but durametrics will do the same job.

(The information is from my 996tt workshop manual CD and is pasted in order as it was on the page. the information is in table format on the computer but is printed as a list so you have to follow the steps carefully)

Hope this helps and I will be following the outcome so please keep us all updated. As i said earlier the alarm system is so complicated its a bad point with the car IMO.

With that many faults, i would check the Alarm/cl module has not got wet. If the door seals or the seals inside the door cards are poor the water collects in the lowest point in the car, which just happens to be where Porsche fits the Alarm / Cl module. :rolleyes:

I've the 96-39 Fault code 33...

Replaced passenger compartment monitoring sensor, but nothing happened..

I'm following the instruction for the fault code 32 (it look to be the same as 34) I have a battery voltage displayed instead of 0, now, how I can check and repair the wiring harness??

which pin are you getting voltage on. It says to check A24 to ground and also A8 to ground. If not 0v then replace sensor.

On the cct diagram when you have disconnected plug A from the alarm /cl module and check A8 to ground the alarm siren would appear to still be connected to A8 as well. In other words A8 is connected to A2 on the interior sensor and also pin A2 of the Siren. The siren might be causing the 12 v on line A24. Pull off the plug to the siren and see if the voltage drops to 0v.

A24 only goes to A3 on the sensor so any voltage on that with the interior sensor plug disconnected A24 to A3 can only come from a short in the wiring/wiring fault.

I'm having voltage ON at pin 24 but I already unplugged the siren and the interior sensor before testing, at this point should I try to connect 24 to 3 with a straight line?

Ok... I checked both, so actually I don't receive signals from the wiring, the wiring harness is ok! is it possible that the new passenger compartment monitoring sensor is broken? will try to get another one tomorrow at the dealer...

Have you checked pin 1 & 4 on the sensor plug. 1 iIRC is the 12v supply and 4 is earth. Perhaps you have lost the earth return?? Or the 12 v supply.

have you any other alarm module fault codes??

Yes, I've checked pin 1 and 4 on the sensor plug, I can read the battery voltage... Anyway I finally had a new sensor (number 2) from the dealer, now I have fault 33 & 34!

Update, I do not have the Alarm Siren and the tilt sensor, I checked the compartment monitoring sensor by closing the car with the remote and keeping the window open, after 30s if I move my hand inside the car the alarm horn goes on! so the sensor is actually working???
