My 2004 V6/3.2 Cayene went in to the Porshe dealer for a few recals and a problem with my sound system, Intermitent audio failure. I dont have PCM just the regular CDR23 single CD AM/FM Radio with the Bose sound speakers. This is the second time in 6 moths that the car went in for the same reason, first time changed the AMP and I was told that was the problem, six months later here we go again same proble. The deck displays everything but no audio comes and goes!!! The car is in the Porshe dealership for 4 days and are waitting for technical assistance from Porsche USA. Has anybody experience this problem? Thanks in advance.

Just got off the phone with the Porsche dealer and the news are that they have to keep the car for another day (day #5) The answer I got is incompatibility between the CDR23 deck the controller and the AMP some kind of software glitch. Waiting direction from Porsche USA Tech Support to fix the glitch. Until then I am on stand by!!!

I just had a similar problem although I have PCM. I was able get the sound to reappear by turning the ignition on without starting the engine, waiting a few seconds and then turning it off. This seems to be a cure when you need many of the digital electronics in the car to reboot.

My guess is that the sound problem is neither the head unit nor the BOSE amplifier. I believe it is a glitch in the communications between the two. The MOST bus interconnects the head unit, the amplifier and the CD changer. Sometimes on a communications bus, devices can drop off or get locked out of the channel when an error occurs. You need to restart the system to get them to re-initialize themselves on the bus.

That's my speculative analysis of the problem. The only way to prove or disprove the theory is to have instrumentation capable of monitoring the MOST bus. Any thoughts or comments from others are welcome.

The car already has that capability. If the MOST signal is lost then it registers a fault.

Please request that the dealership provide the fault codes that have been detected when interrogating the vehicle with the PST2 / PST3.

Please post the fault codes.
