Hello everyone, I am new but I love this forum! I have learned so much over the past few weeks. My issue with my 1997 Boxster is that hitting the lock button locks the gas cover but not the doors and i get a beep beep. When I open the passenger door the light comes on and the window goes down but neither with the drivers door. I can lock the drivers door with the key but the passenger one doesn't lock. I read that turning the key in the drivers door 3x quickly to lock works, but it didn't. Is there a manual way to lock the passenger door? Also the red light on the dash switch seems to always be on. I have been driving with the top down and hit the "key" side of the switch which locked everything but if you try it again you just get the horn, it unlocks and it won't lock again. I would just be happy to be able to lock the doors at this point. I didn't know if I should try disconnecting the battery or maybe the box under the drivers seat so I figured I would ask first. Btw I only have the "spare" key, not a remote. Thank you in advance!

Two beeps from the alarm system says there is an alarm fault. You need to use a tester (Durametric, PST2, or PIWIS) find and reset alarm codes.

Chances are your latch or microswitch has failed in the passenger door.

Thank you for the reply. I guess it sounds like a trip to the dealer. It would be convenient to have my own Durametric system, from what I have read it seems to be worth it. Do you agree? Does it read/adjust the same as the dealer can? Is it usually a set price or are there websites I should be using to shop around? Thank you again.
