I swapped out a failed ignition switch this morning. Replacement part was from a well-known distributor and was made in Germany. Now my radio and dummy lights are staying on with the key out of the ignition. Also, I can no longer lock the doors with the Key FOB wirelessly - but can lock and unlock manually. Any suggestions before the battery dies? Many thanks in advance -

Jeremy

Lights should stay on for 30 seconds or so and the radio will stay on for about 1 hour (if you turn it on while key is out). Can you turn the radio off? If not, something in the wiring is definitely wrong.

Make sure it is the right part number switch (I have personally seen Porsche deliver a different part number inside a plastic that labelled something else).

Make sure wires aren't touching and that the new switch is not overtightened or cracked.

Thanks for your prompt reply as always. This problem came down to the simplest of origins. The Meyle ignigition switch was the right part number, but the one I had was defective. I installed another switch and all is back to normal. Not pleased that I had to do the job over again, but thankful the defective switch turned out to be the problem.

With thanks -

Jeremy
