Hi,

I have a rattling sound from the front suspension on my 996. It's rattling when driving on uneven surfaces. Anyone that could point me in the right direction? Sway bar drop link? Shock? Ball joint? It has a 118 k on it, and still feels firm and nice to drive.

Thanks.

Johan

The two most common are loose swaybar mounts or upper strut mount loose or worn badly.

Thanks Loren,

I figured it had to be a common problem, just didnt know what.

Does both need replacing? Or just re-torquing?

Thanks,

Johan

Usually the swaybar is just re-torquing unless it has been loose a long time and damaged the bushings.

The upper strut mount usually means a worn mount that would need replacement and then a re-alignment. Only inspection will tell on both.

Just to close this thread; it turned out to be the front sway bar drop links. I changed them while changing to H & R springs, and now the suspension is nice and quiet!

Thanks,

Johan
