Hello All,

Just wanted to run something by you. Recently my MY2000 986S has started to make a sound which I can best describe as a high pitch squeal/whine. Here is the tricky part. It only happens after the car has been driven for a little while. If I start it up in the cold garage, no issues. If I start it up on a hot day or after it has been driven it starts again, I can hear the noise. Noise happens on ignition (sounds almost like a loud ""beeep" sound. A/C off, radio off still happens. If I rev the engine in neutral it gets louder and seems to be related to RMPs. When i walk around the vehicle, I dont hear anything unusual and the noise seems to come through the front vents. I.e. when I shut off the A/C the noise quietens down but i can still hear it through the vents. I read a few things on fuel shut off valves etc but I am really not sure what it is since it is so intermittent. I will probably take it in but wanted to see what opinions you guys had?

Any help appreciated.

Gulfstorm.

This is totally a guess, but maybe the fuel pump? Try opening the front trunk when the sound is active.

I'm having some squealing sound when the motor compartment gets heat soaked so I sympathize.
