I don't see where the transmission fluid can be checked on the engine. Owner's manual doesn't show you where to check like oil & hydraulic fluids, ...it tells you to bring it into dealer.

How can I check the transmission fluid level...where would you add tranny fluid?

Posted

You don't. On a manual transmission you do not mess with the tranny oil unless you have a leak or you are planning on replacing it.

Hey Loren can I use the normal Mobile 1 75/90 at auto stores considering I have limited slip, i.e. do I need to add any friction modifier, and is that mobile 1 the same as the ptx?

Nothing special is needed for the Porsche LSD. Perhaps Mobile 1 75/90 is Mobilube PTX since Mobilube PTX is not sold in the US. Mobilube PTX is a synthetic 75W-90 gear oil and is rated GL-4, GL-5 - so that is what to look for.

Great thanks Loren, I was trying to figure out if there was anything different or other references to consider any other brands but it appears that the mobile 1 is really the only proven oil. Thanks again. Sean
