My speedometer bounced up & down like crazy for about 10 seconds & then droped down to zero never to move again. I assume my cable needs to be replaced, I hope this is something I can replace myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Been ages since I did one of these so I hope my memory is correct. If it's just the cable you need to remove the speedo- which just pulls straight out of the dash- and remove the broken cable. There is a angle drive at the rear of the transaxle that you need to inspect for damage and be sure all of the old cable is removed. If all looks well just install the new cable from the speedo side first making sure it installs smoothly with no binding and engages the angle drive correctly. reinstall the speedo and test drive.

The odd time the cable housing gets damaged which inturn breaks the cable so if you feel any resistance or binding while installing the new cable you'll need to inspect the housing. The angle drive can also fail.
