Boxster-mates,

A buddy of mine is going thru what I went thru before - one of the convertible transmission is probably wearing out and the top is struggling to close. I was lucky that I was able to close the top and drive around for a few months before I had the transmissions (both) replaced.

Can someone spot me instructions on how to close the convertible top - manually? Need to have it done before we can take it to the shop - the top is stuck halfway now.

Many thanks in advance!

There is a detailed procedure in the owners manual. But basically you have to "lever off" the joint rods on both sides of the top. Instructions say to take care they (joint rods) are under spring tension and also that you must take care to support the weight of the top so it doesnt fall when you disconnect the rods. You can manually lift the covertible top cover to stow the top if you are opening it and stowing it.

Cool! Luckily, the top was able to move on its own to close down - took some time but got in.

Thanks for the response, Lumpy!
