Hello all!

I bought a 1997 Boxster 2 weeks ago and i knew the softop wasn´t working and had to be fixed.

So i started to dismount some components like the transmission(one of the lever got broken),and i didnt noticed it had a major damage in one area.

There is a little ball on the softop mechanism where the pushrod from the transmission conects that is no longer there and its broken.

Now my question is: Can this be somehow fixed ?

Any help is really apreciated!!

Here is a image of it.

A fabrication shop may be able to weld a piece to the original, and bolt on, or grind out a ball top. It looks like aluminum. There's alway a way in my opinion, having worked in a turbine fab. shop for 30 years.

If you succeed in having someone fabricate and weld the lug that has broken off, make sure that you check that the other side's steel ball is tight.

The lug onto which the steel ball is bolted is susceptible to breaking off if the thin nut which secures the steel ball onto the lug is loose.

If you need instructions on how to remove the top and frame so that you can take the top and frame to a welder/fabricator, take a look at this link: https://sites.google.com/site/mikefocke2/removingthetopandframe

Regards, Maurice.
