Climate control always ON ?

Hi

I have a 1999 USA C2 coupe,

How come evertime you start the car the Climate control turns is on,

kinda annoying that when you start the car EVERYTIME i have to hit the button to turn it off,

Is something wrong with it or that how it is,

Anyway of changing it to stay completely off until i want it on ,

Have you tried hitting the Auto button once to turn it off?

If that does not work try turning the fan speed down until the display reads "oFF".

thanks I do hit i the fan button down to OFF position everytime,

but once i restart it ,,, it is back on to what ever the last temp was

I'm pretty sure that's they way it works. It comes on automatically, despite being turned off previously.

went out a tried every possible way ,

always remembers my last input but never will just say OFF once i reinstall the key and turn it,,, its ON with the last temp/fan reading

so guess that how it is normally

Sorry, if I turn my "oFF" it stays off.

Perhaps your HVAC control has been replaced with a "newer" unit?

I leave mine on Lo and fans off (no bars). When I start the car the next time it remembers that setting. Sometimes I'll hit the fan down arrow once to turn it off, but since the fans aren't on it doesn't matter.

But I guess at this point the fan is not blowing, so does it matter if the display reads off or not?

So then the only time or reason I actually have to turn it OFF, is when I have the car parked, engine off, and the acc on. For example a car wash, carpet vacuum, etc.

If you are concerned about outside air coming in you can also close the vents.

I think the on position is the default. I know on my cab I usually turn off the system with the top down and it always turns back on with the lowest fan setting when the car is restarted. Same on most of the other 996's I know of. Maybe Loren got a special one :clapping:

A service write at Porsche told me that is the way the early 996's were designed to have contant air flow into the cabin. Your car is 100% normal. The A/C compressor does not kick on until you hit the + on the fan speed.
