Hi,

My ABS light turned on after the car was stored over the winter. I have done a read-out on the fault codes on the engine and found the code P0501 (Vehicle Speed No Signal) but the speedometer on the car works perfectly. I have no PSM or simular, just ABS. The car is a manual 996 C2 -00 RoW (E-gas engine). Does anyone have a clue? I can't do a ABS read-out right now because I'm away from home. And it doesn't help to lift of the battery cable for a while.

P0501 Vehicle Speed – Not in Specified Range

Possible causes:

– Open circuit or short circuit in wire from DME control module to ABS control module

– Open circuit or short circuit in wire from rear left wheel speed sensor to ABS control module

– Rear left wheel speed sensor faulty

– Pulse wheel for speed sensor damaged or contaminated with brake dust

– DME control module faulty

– ABS control module faulty

Durametric or a PST2 might be handy to narrow down the problem.
