I have a 1999 996 C2 with 93,000. I unfortunately have to replace my torque converter. While I have the transmission off I plan on doing the following:

1. lnengineering retro IMS fix.

2. Rear main seal

Does anyone recommend any other items that I should replace while I am in there. I have had no other issues other than the transmission, but I have only had the car for one year and have no way to know if anything else has been replaced.

Thanks for any advice you could give me.

I just had the LN Engineering IMS Retro Kit (Dual Row) installed today, I also had the Pilot Bearing, RMS, Throwout Bearing, Clutch Disk,Bearing Guide and Release Bearing replaced as well as the Oil being replace (Synthetic) since the Transmission had to be removed anyway to install the new IMS Bearing. The original Bearing showed no signs of wear, slipping or overheating. I did the IMS upgrade for a peace of mind, now i can drive my 911 (2000, 3.4 lts 6 speed)without worrying about the IMS failure. Total parts was $1100, Labor was $550 (This is a private POrsche Certified mechanic who has his own shop).

Please report back on which shop you have you're work down at and, if possible, the total price. I'm going to be in the market for a new clutch soon and am going to be in the same boat. Thanks so much.

I agree with the comment regarding the AOS. Mine finally went at 145,000 miles at a very inopportune time.

I also agree that the water pump is probably due because mine failed at 107,000 miles, but it's easily accessible from the rear of the car. Having the transmission out wouldn't make a difference.
