cdr 23 radio power cycling

I just got my 2003 911 C2 out of storage. After installing the battery everything is working okay except the radio which is a CDR 23. The radio powers on, displays PORSCHE then after about 15 seconds turns itself off. It then powers back on and repeats the cycle. I can't even turn it off using the power button. Any suggestions?

Yes. Remove the key and restart engine. Might need to do this a few times. Quirky Porsche issue

I had same issue on my '03 C4S. The key removal trick didn't do it for me. Eventually traced it to a bad fiber optic cable.

I had the same issues. Try turning the alarm on and off.

i did all this stuff to no avail. then i unbolted the amp and realized the ground was faulty and coming and going. added a new ground from the anchor bolt on the amp case to the chassis ground and it's FIXED. thanks for being here guys.

I know this is an old thread, but I have the same powering cycle problem on a non-Bose CDR-23. When I pull the fiber optic connector at the CD unit, the fiber light turns on and off in-synch with the power on/off cycle of the radio.

Any ideas?

I know this is old but here is the solution for folks dealing with this issue

 

The power cycling CDR23 is sometimes due to an error in communication between the amplifier and the head unit.  

Make sure the amplifier is powered up and the fiber optic connections between the head and amp are good,

Check the 15 amp fuse to the amp located in Row D slot 9.  

 

In my case after the battery was changed two fuses were blown.  The 10 amp on the back of the Becker and the 15 amp to the sound package.  

 

Replacing the 10 amp got power back to the head unit, but it just flashed PORSCHE for a few seconds then power cycled.  

 

I checked the amplifier and it looked dead, so I tracked down the fuse, put a new 15 amp and the Becker immediately came back to life.
